just as i thought. this is from a specialist LR mechanic in perth. said while they do that they possibly do other things at the same time but as a base figure he said about 1200. also said they drench the seal in silastic blu rtv before they install it and that usually touches the back of the t seals and stops them from leaking too. not sure how this works as i havent seen what that part of the engine looks like yet. im sure others here can explain.
Well I went with a heavier oil 20/50 and replaced filter and then got under the Disco and slightly tapped all bolts connecting the bell housing to the sump with a ring spanner and a rubber mallet. I guess they turned almost quarter of a full turn each and did not want to go further for fear of over tightening. Ran the engine to normal operating temperature and it's now been one hour and no drips. There is a thin film of oil along a part of the seal but nowhere near enough to form into even a small drip. I will need to monitor over the next couple of days and wait and see - maybe a temporary fix but I seem to have bought some time and may be able to stop putting a rubber mat down on the driveway.

Any excessive crankcase pressure? If so its usually the rear main (biggest seal) that lets go when excess pressure builds up. Also a blocked crankcase breather can result in same.
