As I've begun my mission to restore my 97 Defender I thought it would be clever to get hold of a sad wrecked 300TDi to practice on. So I ended up buying on Ebay a complete 97 Disco that got tired on the trail and laid on its side for a nap. I got it for $ 850. Well I'll get it if the seller doesn't punch me in the nose for not being able to pick it up till almost xmas day!
Now it occurred to me the disco has probably been better looked after than my defender has and short of the body & chassis being warped beyond the skill level of a student panel beater it might be well worth a restoration.
But if not, my question without notice Mr. Speaker,..... how much of Defenders and Discovery's are interchangeable ?? I do recall in the early seventies seeing an FX Holden with EH Holden tail lights

Engine, trans, TC and some electrical parts are about all that can be swapped over. A D1 body can be found pretty cheap for a swap over.
Now EH lights into an FX is a major body mod and not a bolt in job.
MY08 TDV6 SE D3- permagrin ooh yeah

1998 Triumph Daytona T595
1974 VW Kombi bus
1958 Holden FC special sedan
I'm not allowed to buy the Disco now, mum said no! Don't laugh, I'm my 92 year old mother's live in carer and my disobedience would be too stressful for the control freak.
I was looking forward to being a Disco man too!....but I'm sure if Maurice Wilks was looking down from heaven he'd be yelling, " but yu can't hose out the inside of a Disco can yu"! ?
Re- the EH tail lights, the owner of the FX was a panel beater.
