    Disco 1 modifications

    Hi All,

I am in the process of modifying my Discovery........just because I can, and I am wanting to add a work/reversing LED light to the rear. I would like it to be switched to control it manually when camped, but to be linked to the reversing light only when the headlights are on.
Is there a thread which would give me some information on this?.

    Regards

This is a circuit that I worked out to have an auxiliary reverse light switchable front and rear with an indicator on the dash to show that it's on. The 3 wires between the front and rear switches carry only relay current so can be light gauge. To make the auxiliary light only come on with head lamps you'll need to switch the reverse feed in the diagram through a second relay, using parking lights to switch on the relay.

The dash switch has a centre off so you can fully disable the light. If it is in either on position the rear switch will change the light over to reverse or on and vice versa.

    Thread discussion here.

It is illegal to have a white light to the rear that can be switched on through the lighting system, it must be wired independently and can only be switched on at the rear of the vehicle.
I used to have a work light (wide beam spot light) connected to my reversing lights on my 41' semi trailer as I had to back into loading docks in the middle of the night and I got booked and fined for it, check with your rego office for the latest, Regards Frank.

tank i think that could be correct, thats why i have mine on a switch put it in reverse flick the switch if it's needed it's simple to wire up as well, i had it tooked up so the lights have had to be on that was a real pain in the butt camping, also something else to consider which i did, i ran 1 wire off a relay which powered all accessory switches all lights, compressor, uhf etc that relay is activated by the accessory wire off the ignition so nothing can be left on when you turn the car off.
