Centre Diff Lock linkage issue.
Hi All
I've just finished changing a clutch and about 400 seals in my 200tdi Discovery. Had a few minor hiccups, but only one has me a little stumped. I can no longer engage the CDL.
It appears to me that there is excessive play in the external part of the linkage, as the transfer itself appears good (I got firm changes if I manually moved the rotating arm on the transfer before I put it back in the car). My current suspect is the little looped pivot that sticks out the side of the gearbox; there is an awful amount of slop between it and the pin that goes through it (see my picture below).

My question is, should there be a bush of some kind in between the pin and the loop part? If so, where can I get one? (or does anyone have a part no?).
Would make sense to me, and I feel it would solve my problem; but I don't recall one being there when I pulled it apart (worked fine before), and I cannot find anything left over. If there isn't supposed to be one, any other thoughts? Because I am stumped if this isn't it.
Any help really appreciated!
Aaron.

Four bushes.....bingo!
Yes, you are right there are little nylon bushes in those linkages, I think 2 halves in each, go in from each side of both the fulcrum point and the lever cross shaft, as to where you will get replacements I don't know offhand but I expect that most Land Rover parts guys would have them.
The pins are 6mm diameter I think, and the holes are 8mm I think, you may be able to use some thin wall nylon tube or something as a stopgap measure, but the originals have like a 1mm thick collar on one end that with 2 combined gives the effect of a thrust washer each end.
As far as I know there is no bushings to the "loop part" or lower link from the descending arm to the diff lock activation link lever.
Alternately if you have a mate with a lathe and some nylon stock you could make some up but easier/cheaper to by the genuine article. Gaz

Awesome! Thank you very much for the reply.
I think I can picture what you mean about the two halves and collar; sounds similar to what is on the bottom of my Suzuki's gear stick. Will check with a few places next week when everywhere is open again on getting some. Stop-gap shouldn't be required for now, car only has bitumen work for a few weeks, and the diff is stuck in open.
Thanks
Aaron.
