1994 disco - where is the ecu display ?

Hi all, after much trouble i finally found the ecu unit on my 1994 disco (footwell right up).

But where is the display ? Is there any at all ? There are no wires under the seat.

Problem is disco is running rough and maybe I can get some info from the ecu display (If I find it first...)

    Thanks

The ECU does not have a display. There is a diagnostic plug under the dash if you have a reader. Lots of things can make it run ruff, leads, dissy cap or rotor, air leaks but I would start by checking the MAF and clean or adjust. There was a great setup procedure on here if you search.

Pretty sure that 94 discos don't have any diagnostic plug. That appeared with the disco 2.

Disco 1 does have the Diagnostic plug. My '96 and '97 Discos both have one. You can buy a reader I think or you can use the blink code procedure. You need to make a wire up and insert it into pins 5 and 15 from memory. Look up disco 1 blink procedure for directions.

I should have been a bit clearer.

Later models did have an OBD Diagnostic plug but the earlier models did not and only had a unique land rover specific plug/s and codes. I think it was around 1995/96 the change was made when OBD compliance started becoming mandatory in a number of countries.

My old 94 range rover had separate diagnostic plugs for Engine, SRS system, Air suspension and Alarm/security.

    Cheers

Thanks for all the answers. I will start with the MAF first and wait for the 14CUX fault reader to arrive.

Would be a good idea to just disconnect the MAF ? I should get a default value then which could be better than the hopping the car does sometime now.

This might help you set up the MAF. It will run with it unplugged but not at optimal performence.

PS: I also have a spare ECU that I no longer need you could try. What part of Vic are you from.
