What roof racks are people using on their disco ones?

Currently i have two prorack mounts/bars at the back and two rhino rack bars at the front, all same height, paid $269 for the prorack setup and $410 for the rhino rack setup.

Currently have side awning, basket at rear with extra spare wheel and some empty fuel and water containers (not needed them full yet), front has always been empty but am going to fit a roof top tent soon.

Have to say i'm pretty disappointed with the prorack bars/fittings, rated for 100kgs and only ever had 60kgs on there max and after three months all the mounts have cracked! so guess am i'm going to have to fork out for another pair of rhino rack bars.... seems real hard to get much choice in bars due to the discos roof design.

    Question

Do u know what is the length of the legs are and what sort of height above the roof the bars sit?

Looking for myself and not sure if they look a bit out of place.....

do u have any photos at all?

I'll have to measure the gap and leg sizes for you, the prorack one is called the tradesman kit and the rhinorack ones up front i got from roofrack city and they just matched the kit to the prorack ones, they did comment on the quality of the the prorack kit...

I have a set of Thule roof bars and they are a 280mm leg.

As for height above roof I'd have to measure, do you want the measurement from the roof to the top of the bars or the clearance between the roof and the bottom of the bars?

I think the front ones look out of place but because of the shape of the roof there is nothing you can do. I have been toying with the idea of putting a frame under the front to hold my table, it;s a pain to fit in the back

    G'day mate,

Did you have any trouble mounting the awning to the bars? Most of the awnings i've been looking at seem to be designed to fit a full roof rack

    cheers

Hannibal have an alloy rack (slideout ladder), really solid & well made, easy to walk on for loading and tying down, continual support strip along gutters.

In fact I don't use the ladder, it's more convenient to use the rear bumper, door handle and spare as steps. I've added plastic pipe tanks under the sides.

I have been using a pair of rinho racks since i bouvhg my D1, about 18 months ago i bought 4wd systems half rack off ebay for a huge $16.
Didnt have any mounting legs but i have them done and will finish when i'm able to get back into the shed.
I miss having a full rack like i did on my rangie but the half will handy for day trips or hardware runs.

The awning wasn't to bad to fit just used a couple of universal L brackets then drilled and bolted to roof bars, i like the look of the rack you have there! i should have done a bit more research before i went the route i did, by the time i replace the broken prorack legs and get a full lenght rack on it for the tent i'll be getting close to having spent 1800 lol
