How to remove bottom satellite fuse holder

Hi all. I need to remove and replace the bottom under dash fuse holder on my disco 1. The 10amp holder for the ignition appears to have been loose and arcing such that it has burnt and corroded out but the 10 amp fuse did not blow. It stopped the engine and she won't restart. I would like to replace the whole bottom holder as another looks a little corroded.

Alternatively i could pull the wires out of the back of the ignition fuse holder....if there is enough wire...and do an inline holder..

there must be some tags holding this little box to the main box, but im not sure where they are...

    Cheers

    Hi Scott.
I don't really know, but as no one else has replied, I thought I'd throw my two bobs worth in.

Looking at the picture on page 821 of the workshop manual available here:
    http://www.landroverresource.com/doc...hop_Manual.pdf

it appears that these are probably held on by those fantastic little moulded plastic ratchet clips (that inevitably break off when you push on them).

I would suggest that you need to push a small straight screw driver down between the two units (in the right place) to disengage the clip and allow the satellite to slide straight out.

I'm not sure this is really any help but I am hoping it may lead you in the right direction if you haven't already worked it out.

    Best of luck.
    Jeff

Thanks Jeff - I had worked it out mate, but thank you.

Yes its pretty easy just press down a single white tab and slide out backwards. I changed to an inline 10amp fuse, but still no spark, so having done the HEI Module and rotor button I reckon its go to be coil, so a new BIC 290 Bosch going in when I can get to her (next week). I very much doubt its the pick up coil as the thing is only about 5 years old (Scorcher Holden/Ford homologation Dizzy with Bosch HEI).

    Cheers
