Composite for used head , for new head use whatever the supplier says to use to keep warranty. My head kit came with an elring composite.

Turners provided the Elring composite with the new head they supplied - has worked fine for me for 25000km (fingers always remain crossed with a 300tdi )

    Replacement of head gasket

Before you fit the head bring each piston to top dead centre TDC measure the amount of piston above the block head, Then using the highest measurement you purchase the appropriate thickness head gasket. If this is not done and you use one that is to thin the piston/s will hit the head. If you have throne the old gasket out you will need a magnetic dial gauge to measure each one.
On the right hand side rear of the old gasket is a series of holes 1,2 & 3 punched this is the code for the head gasket.

Fit a Victor Rienz Laminated metal gasket, best of the lot, used to have a warped head, would not seal with an Elring Composite, fitted the laminated gasket and no more problems, Regards Frank.

Mine came with my new AMC head, it was a genuine Land Rover update gasket part# LUB500220, however I had already purchased a Victor Rienze version, I think I Googled it up and got it from eBay, about $100, or you could try Carkraft in Silverwater, Sydney, ask for a Laminated Victor Rienze brand gasket, Regards Frank.

You need to source the cause of the Blown head gaskets.
DeanH on this forum had this a couple of times in the past. The problem was a slowly leaking P gasket. So over time coolant leaked and cause the head to blow.
He informed me a lot of mechanics just replace head gaskets but never look further than that.
    Cheers,
    Mario
