    D1 holden 5.0 conversion anyone got one or done one.

    Hi Guys.
    Just got my 3.9 d1 going today...
    Yippey.....

    Waiting for parts to come. I was looking at the 5.0 conversions fron marks and dellows..
    Just seeing if any members have ant infomation on these conversion...

    YES I need some projects....

    Unless you are towing a lot is it worth it ?

    I'm quite happy with how mine gets along, considering it's a 20 year old car.

    Yes.
    More to do with wanting to do it.. lol.
    Yes i am happy with the sound of the Rover always have.
    Just thinking of when this engine needs some work. It looked nice inside. Compression was great only got 146009 on the clock.
    Just cant go past the toqure of the vs vt 304...
    Will start stockpiling the bits for the day...

    A fellow I work with has put a Rover 5.0V8 into his Disco2. He raves about it and gets better economy from it.

    This thread has a guy selling bolt in kits for LS with 6 speed auto into defenders. He says earlier in the thread it will fit D1 and I think classics too.

    Don't know whether LHD being US makes a difference. It's the first thread ive read where the conversion actually looks doable and affordable for a backyarder.

    Well just got a 1996 hsv mantra (yard find).
    Been parked up tree fell on it.
    Front is great..
    80000 km on it..
    100.00 and a carton of beer....
    Fun will start sooner then I thought

    You might want to look into the engineering required to pass rego , most holden/chev conversions went out the window once the 4.6 RV8 was available.
