Thread: 93 discovery 1 amber dash light

I'd say it's the brake pad wear light.

Could also be the Handbrake On warning light, Regards Frank.

Quick question, have a 93 discovery 1 200tdi which is displaying and orange/amber light on the dash which looks like a circle with points around it. Only seems to come on when I'm breaking and cycles of and on quickly when riding the breaks. Doesn't seem to come on at any other time. I've attached a picture which shows the light (the amber one). Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Do D1's have them ? i know my tdi doesnt.

Correct, that symbol is for handbrake.

It isn't the handbrake light.

The combined handbrake/service brake warning light is the red one, has two symbols one with an exclamation mark and one with a P.

The orange one is brake pad wear and only comes on when the brakes are applied.

My ugly dash Disco was the same, but the feature wasn't carried across to the update model.

The pad wear indicator is a strip in the pads on one side (forget which side ). A lot of mechanics cut the wires to stop it working
