    Bonnet cable

Hi all, couldn't get the bonnet open on the series 1 on the week end, had the wife pulling the cable, and me trying to get it to release, next time I tried and the "t" napped caused a nice cut down the side of my finger, lucky for me it wasn't when my wife was trying. Finally got it with vice grips. Tried adjusting and slack in the cable and then repositioning the catch, but still not good . Is the only solution a new cable? Thanks .Gary

Generally yes. I have used a few screws well positioned on my RRC to make it last a bit longer, but in the end a new cable sorted it straight away.

A new or good 2nd hand cable and its possible to just feed a new cable in without having to re route the sheath as well, just lube the old cable as you pull it out and the new one as you feed it in.

Mine did he exact same thing, was lazy and battled with vice grips for ages, in the end I grabbed a new cable from British 4wd and that fixed it, I think it just wears in the cable cover and just gets Hardee's to move the cable.

Turns out my cable was OK. There has been a recent minor smash repair done on my Disco and the cable had been set up wrongly on the release mechanism, that was also filled with dried lubricant and dust. Works fine now
