    Post Disco 1 rear diff

    Hi all,

From your help before I have been able to locate the source of my problem to a destroyed rear diff.

My disco is a 1997 discovery V8 SE manual, the question is will a diff out of a auto work in my manual or are they different ratios?

I have been told that they will and that they wont.

I was hoping someone on here will be able to shed some light on this for me, and if anyone could point me in the direction where to get one.

    Thanks again.

The diffs to my knowledge are the same manual or auto. To be sure, it would be simple enough to check the stamped ratio on the ring gear of each.

just got to watch the change on spline count from the change over year, I forget what year it was.

the easy way to check is to pull one of your halfshafts and make sure the replacemet diff has the same count inside the side gears.

I remembered it also tying in with the introduction of the ABS, just coudlnt remember the year.

    also.

as there wasnt a change in the majority of the axle assemblies you can wind up with early bits in late models and vice versa
