    D1 v8 shift stalling

Hi everyone this is my first post have been reading through old threads with no real luck

My 1996 v8 auto has a issue with stalling when changing from park to a driven gear its a intermittent problem but allways seems to happen at inappropriate times

After reading through some old threads i decide to replace the air flow meter and stepper motor how ever testing in my drive way has seen the problem still occur

I also have a new temp sensor to fit

Has anyone had the same issue and what did you find to be the issue

Unfortunately most of the threads never get a final response as to what fixed there issue

    Thanks in advance

Ok assuming you have good plugs and leads and a recent rotor. If you don't know how old they are replace them first.

The first thing to do is to clean around the throttle plate, and the plate itself.
If that doesn't fix the problem, you may have to reset the "kerb" or base idle.
To do this you blank off the hose stub from the inlet manifold to the stepper motor and blank off the stepper motor end also usually with a bit of duct tape.
Set the idle when warm to about 550-600RPM. To set the idle you turn the allen key on top of the manifold near the throttle body, out for more revs ( lefty loosey) in for fewer revs.
    Regards Philip A
I guess that I should also mention that the static timing should be <10degrees and >6degrees , and that the MAF should be set to 1.5 turns although this is last resort stuff.
