Unhappy Front Tow Bar for Discovery 1

    Hi
I am doing a charity rally for the kidney foundation and have been advised that it is compulsory to have a front tow bar installed in the case that you require towing a distance to a repair stop and they require a fixed towing arrangement.
Can any body advise what tow bar to install onto the front as I have. D2 front number on my purchased beast with a manufactured nudge bar with spotties and there appears to be limited room to install the tow bar. Any suggestions would be appreciated as we leave in 3 weeks and the organisers have not agreed to 2 off cast racing recovery hitch points as a substitute

If you have dash airbags a solid front towbar would not be legally available.

    2 ideas come to mind...
-Something like this set up...Hitch 'N' Go - Welcome, you may have to carry the unbraked A frame for it though.
-Fit a bull bar with a receiver tube you could slip a heyman rece type tounge into(maybe just for the trip?).
    Cheers, Kyle

My Rangie had a front hitch when I got it.

Pretty basic, couple of 8/10mm plates drop down from bumper/bulbar mounting points, 50x75??? RHS cross bar with receiver hitch welded to that. It poked out under the alloy bulbar that was fitted to it.

Still got it in the shed.

I modified a hayman and Reece hitch and bolted it up underneath the front, and recessed the receiver into the bottom of the bar...I have a plastic bulbar

If you don't have an installed winch, something like this? I'm one of those idiots who uses a cradle mounted winch on the very odd occasion it is needed.

Thanks for the helpful suggestions. I will try to source a steel bullbat and incorporate a tow bar tongue receiver into the bar. The SRS compliance is an issue, however reading other threads the wrecking yard is full of crashed LRs with non-deployed airbags.
Thanks again and would welcome Rick1970 advising if he would part with the modified hitch

Would you be interested in selling your front hitch if you have no further need for it?
    Cheers

    Front Tow hitch for Discovery

    Rick
Thanks for your offer and response and apologise for not returning earlier. Have sourced a steel bulbar and putting tow ball on it. Thanks again
