BRASS PLUGS FOR RADIATOR 300 Tdi

G'day All,

Just received my brass replacement plugs from Roverlord. Do I just unscrew the original plastic ones and screw in the brass jobbies? The coolant is only 5000km old, replaced when all the cooling system hoses were changed. I's assume the removing/replacing of the plugs should be done with the engine stone cold

Yep, engine cold is a good idea!

The radiator one will leak coolant, but just swap it quickly and you won't lose much. Then do the thermostat housing one. You could top up with water at the thermostat housing, but unless you manage to let a whole lot of air in somehow, I'd just quickly swap them and call it done.

To save the coolant I use a piece of aquarium type tube to firstly siphon from the res which brings the level down far enough that you can take the plug out from the top of the rad, then siphon again from the rad. Usually recover 4 ltrs.
