Been there done that no problems but make sure its heavy walled or it will just crush
My car has 2 inches of lift and running 33 inch mud tyres on -25 offset.
Done the whole guard cut and fitted flares.
After doing some tests i quickly worked out i need to change the bump stops or im going to do some damage to my new rubber.
After looking at the prices of new extended bump stops and picking myself off the floor from fits of laughter i decided i wont be paying that price for a simple block or urethane.
Got me to thinking though...
These are just stops right. Simply there to limit the amount of diff travel to prevent chewing out your wheel well and tyres.
Well being the cheap bastard i am i got to thinking why not just weld some box section onto the diff stop area so the default stops hit earlier?
Can anyone tell me if there is consequences to this course of action?

You could do that, but you might find the harshness at full suspension compression pretty bad. Does it hit the stops at the moment?
Just make spacers that fit under the stock bump stops to space them down.

Yea i thought about that.
I ended up making a block of sorts and are going to either weld this onto the diff or perhaps put it under the original stop as you suggest.
A bit more fabrication and i could make it fit.
I am a bit worried about welding on the diff for obvious reasons.
