Does the plug at the head centre have a thread? Or does it need tapping? Bit scared to tap a head. Also, my water temp sender is a vdo rated at 120c. Would i need one that goes higher for the head? It's matched (calibrated) with the ems2.

The plug is a M12x1.5 thread, same as the head bolts. You can drill and tap the plug itself with an 1/8"NPT thread

i take it the bolt is steel? i can get Steel nickel plated pre tapped bolt in that size from perth. id rather do that than tap it myself. would this go ok with an alloy head? im worried bout the brass sender into the steel bolts into the alloy head. can anyone see any issues with this?

I think you'll find that theres a premade adaptor for a vdo sender that adapts into the blanking plug Im talking about,, just unbolt the plug, setup the sender in the adaptor and screw itin.

the alarm sensor in the EMS 2 from memory can operate off of either a switch or a low level sensor, so you shouldnt need a second system if you hook up to the low level sensor in the radiator bung.

but yes, if you have a low level sensor in the radiator with an alarm on it you'll be ok.

Well i have the engine saver now. I'll plug that into top of thermostat housing and the temp sender ill move to the head bung.

I already have the float switch in the spare expansion tank ready to be wired up to ems2 so may as well use that too.

Got a mud pod which i will install the gauge units to and other bits and pieces. In future I'll get a seperate oil pressure sender as well.
