Pre-update - some questions...
Well, my first Land Rover was a '94 D1 V8, and broadly, it was 'essentially' the same as my Td5 in terms of interior fittings etc.
Oh what a different beast Norman the '93 is! So some of it's quirks are outside of my Disco & Defender knowledge base
.
A few annoying things have raised their heads recently and I need to get up to speed on this pre-update stuff:
First, as of tonight, the central locking is going off it's head. Over the past couple of weeks I've noticed a ticking sound while sitting in the car, which I eventually realised was coming from the locks, tonight when I try to lock or unlock all the locks servos start screaming like hellspawn demons. I guess they are slaved off the driver's door so I presume thats the one at fault? To shut it up, I've eased the driver's door lock button into what seems to be a neutral position.
Next, the indicator/light stalk. Couple of things here, the first I was ok to live with fro a while, the indicator 'on' telltale did not light up in instrument cluster...unless you jiggled the steering column, so guessed that was the brass ring on the column either dirty or worn? But now, when I flip the headlight switch from park to main beam, the dash lights go out
. A bit of flicking to and of can usually get them to stay on, but is it possible to disassemble the stalk and fix the switch - or is it time for a new stalk?
It's a fascinating journey outside familiar territory and I'm using it as my daily at the moment 'cause the 110's laid up for a week or two and the Td5 needs a service...and I'm having a ball driving the LT77 and 200Tdi combo! 900kms to a tank helps too, which is impressive with 473XXX kms on the clock.
Cheers
Mike
