    exhaust manifold machining

I just installed a new turbo, which came with a new centre piece manifold,
so i used the existing elbows. However the centre manifold is definitely to tall in relation to the original elbows. (found this out the hard way). Ive since taken the manifold off. Should i just take it to a machine shop to shave off a bit off the centre, and if so should, i remove the turbo off the manifold, or can they do it with it on ?
