The Iron Pig was a great vehicle..rusty yes, primitive yes, but it could take a beating and never broke down.

    Thumbs up iron pig

I think those Toyota wagons have a certain brutal handsomeness about them

They were about he same weight as a series 2a or three but had a lot more power.

I doubt if they were much noisier than the landrover equivalent, we had a 2A panel van in the 1970s and one memory i do have of it was very noisy inside.

I don't think defender drivers can throw stones at other cars and call them ugly.

But on subject about bogging the disco, an ATB or locker in the back axle will put those days behind you. A true track or Ashcroft ATB will be simple and cheap to fit, a big help wen you drop a couple of wheels into the drain.
I mentioned before when i got my car I was surprised how easy it was to bog, it always surprised me land rover didn't know about that and fit a rear axle LSD or ATB in the factory. I think Toyota LC or Nissan Patrol had a LSD.

I had a Jeep XJ Cherokee 97, it too had LSD standard on the rear...good strong motor and trans but big time fuel eater.

Yeah love Deefers but they're not the most attractive to look at.

That towbar's not doing you any favours. My recommendation is to put a 2 inch lift and some more aggressive tyres on it (unless it's mainly a road vehicle). Once your bored with that go the locker route. Lockers are good but the extra clearance and tyre traction would serve you better for most situations IMO.

    Have fun with it

    Cheers

you just havent learnt how to talk to it properly yet. you have to remember its a bit like the english language, they just went and borrowed bits and pieces from here and there that sounded good at the time. Which they then balanced with a very large dose of pig headedness, decided they had to re-invent the wheel and did just whatever the hell they thought seemd like a good idea at the time.

Sometimes they did class leading work, others well, I think we can forgive the marque for the freelander.
Apart from the last sentence i could think you are speaking of my somewhat fragile and tenuous relationships of the female of our magnificent species. It just doesn't work out sometimes. Sometimes no matter what you just get bogged down.... spinning wheels and going nowhere....WTF.
