I think the fuel pump relay is up behind the drivers kick panel (look for fat white/purple stripe wiring) but I still think it's more likely to be the pump. If the brushes are sticking slightly a sharp bump can get it going again, like a thump with a FBH (*) or 4x2 to the bottom of the fuel tank.
(* FBH stands for Fairly Big Hammer in case anyone in the Swear Filter Department is wondering.)
