Have you taken it apart as Dave suggested, its the only way to know what is wrong before worrying about parts. Or see if you can grab a whole front diff/axle cheap.

Confirmed Tcase operation is as per normal.. however, if its been driven extensively using the diff lock there may be some abnormal wear to the center diff assembly, Id suggest a couple of oil changes at shortened intervals after dropping the inspection plate off of the tcase to remove any deposits as a precaution.

you dont have to take the wheel off to strip the swivel housing... its just a hell of a lot easier.
Thanks mate :)
Managed to finally get the first wheel nut off the drivers side after much persuading with a socket, bar and a bloody big hammer...Then proceeded to get the first wheel nut stuck in the bloody socket!! Finally got free with help from vice and the bloody big hammer :)
exposed the 5 nuts that are holding the shaft in, but couldn't figure out how to stop the bloody thing from turning so that I could get them off!! The whle thing is now spinning freely even though TC difflock is engaged (problem???!!!) I can confirm that when that side turns, it sounds like a pile of metal been shaken in a can!
May just bite the bullet and take it down the road to the mechanic!...Should not be that expensive for them to do it really....??1200-1500 $$
Saves me from the 40 degree heat that we get up here everyday :)
2 real options
1. put the wheel nuts on again and then put a crow bar or similar between the hub and the wheelnut then let it torque react off of the ground as you undo the flange nuts
2. bury your boot in the brakes and then stick a block of wood or an extension bar between the seat and the pedal or the seat box and the pedal.
Thanks mate :)
I note you are in Katherine...I am in Kununurra :)...Close neighbours then by Northern Australia standards :D
With county front diffs the inner halfshaft is only 10 spline and is a definite fuse. However if the cv housinf has been full of water or run out of lubricant then even the mighty county CV can fail....
