95 should be post update model.
I now have 2 discos buying a second one for parts was much cheaper than buying parts required
1st is about a 95 model 300tdi auto pre upgrade
2nd is 97 model v8 auto post upgrade
I'm going to be pulling apart the v8 within the next few months to fix up the 300 for the missus but first I'm here gathering information and resources.
Is there a list somewhere the differences with the upgrade
The v8 is in excellent condition in every respect never off road total town car stock standard from showroom floor nearly, the 300 has seen better days I've put it through hell and it's returned very rough needs fair bit for rego.
What's to move from the v8
*Diffs v8 has 24 spline 300 10 spline
*Abs give her some better brakes I guess
*Interior (except air bags) and panels wanted to do a body swap but that looks to require engineers, vacc and vivv certification so too much money and red tape for my liking
*Cruise control can it be moved over to the 300 not sure how it operates on these figure easier to ask question now than wait till I'm pulling it apart
*wheels and tyres so she can have allot alloy wheels and 236/70 for on road and the steel 31"well be kept for when she wants to go play
*radiator I'm guessing it's not compatible due to intercooler our is it possible to mount the intercooler elsewhere just don't want it too overheat again and have to replace another head on the 300
*Ford au thermo fans I have heard are very good at keeping engine cool what's the story there is it the thermos on the front you remove or the viscous fan on the rear that gets replaced
More questions to come soon when I get around to having a closer look at them both

This one got in just before the update built may 95
Ford EL fans are the ones to get, they have more blades than the AU. Cost about $100 from the wreckers. You remove the viscous fan. Need to trim the EL plastic housing slightly (10 minute job) then the lip drops into the Disco radiator channel at the bottom (on a V8). You can make up brakets to hold it at the top, I used 9 mm cable ties. I left the front aircon fans in place. Works very well, engine stays cool always and the aircon seems to work better, and I've never had any battery drain or alternator issues.
You could get a 98 D1 without ABS or airbags. If it is a 300 TDi then it is an update.
pics will tell it all
