Alpine window - fill in the hole ?

The Alpine window does not appear to be of any use except in UK gloom and as a styling thingy

Have dinged the roof and an Alpine widow has fallen out (not broken). Looking at posts here it appears to be awkward to replace and moreso to avoid leaks.

Any reason not to fiberglass over the hole?

    Not so far.

    Thinking maybe:

    Remove rubber
Mould/cut a couple of 5oz layer using the fallen out window.
    Glue the replacement in.
Cover inside and outside with 1 1/2 oz deckcloth with overlap to the roof.

See how that goes. if no cracks leaks etc could stick some carpet on inside.

Just put it back in. Run some black PU under the seal, and it won't leak.

I smashed my window and dented the roof so cant (not easily) refit glass. I got a sheet of plastic, some gap filler, and sealed it up. Doesnt leak. It looks pretty crappo as I did a half ass job of it, but it works 100%.

One side is used as ducting with the rear AC models. So don't plan on filling that side if you have rear AC
