I've got an 18 channel Pearce Simpson in one of my cars.

Don't toss it whatever you do.

Cool old unit, but as mentioned, you won't have anyone to talk to if you install it as everyone uses UHF these days. I have a 27Mhz unit somewhere - never had the heart to throw it out.

Hang onto it for sure, but personally I wouldn't bother fitting it - it's more a piece of nostalgia and history than anything useful.

If you do toss it, toss it in my direction. I'll pop it on the shelf with the others.

I wonder if people still use side band?

I have heard that there is a small resurgence of am cb due to the amount of dickheads that clog up the UHF channels.

Interesting - I might have to dust the old one off.

Or, buy an 80 channel - most of the knobs haven't got them yet, so up further in the band it's still relatively free of tools. (So far)

Channels 41 to 80 are between channels 1 to 40. The new 80 channel uses the same amount of the spectrum as the old 40 channel, but with narrower channels.

Yes, but I was just referring to the knob jockeys who run rampant on UHF - most don't have 80 channels so they can't hear in between the gaps so to speak.
