Heater fan packed in, will it work from A/c Fan?

Hi All. I have an Old beaten up 200TDi which amazingly is still going after the hard life I've given it. It's at the point where its not worth spending big money on it anymore, and the Heater Fan has given up. We have isolated to being the fan, not switch or fuses etc. It appears to be a big job to get in there to fix it :/
My mechanic suggested that there seems to be other fans down there, and wondered if wiring up the A/c fans would work to pump out heat. Any ideas?

I assume we are talking about cabin fans and not the fans on the radiator.

The ventilation system inside the cabin only uses one fan - so the heater and the a/c use the same fan. I am not sure what you mechanic thought he saw.

Afterthought - I have assumed it has the OEM a/c system that replaced the glovebox in the early D1s - if you have some sort of aftermarket A/C system there may be two separate fan systems.

Yes, pre update has seperate a/c and heater fans. Very much doubt you could make the a/c fans work with the heater/fresh air side of things.

Mine had a wasp nest stopping heater fan, and blowing the fuse. You can get to it enough to inspect from under the cowl where the wiper arms come through. Replacement is a whole dash out job tho.

Where do you live? I disconnected my heater matrix from the cooling system so have no heater. I live in Perth though so it doesn't bother me. On "cold" days here a pair of gloves is my heater.

What I'm getting at is that it probably isn't worth it if you need to replace the heater fan.
