    Not sure about the ECU, it MAY be part of the window ECU which is known to give faults because of dry solder joints, or the multi-function unit. It is up behind the glove box as posted. And if it is doing odd things it is more likely the problem is in there, rather than the doors.
    The spider was deleted when the 10AS alarm/immobiliser was fitted from 97 on so a 98 doesnt have a spider unit.

    My car is not an Australian spec, it is one of the last D1,s ES V8i imported into Thailand and I have the removed spider.

    My '96 Disco has the 10as alarm and spyder - I have had to re-solder the spyder - so I am sure.
