I would be measuring the distance from the mounting face for the slave cylinder to the clutch fork, then comparing this with the slave cylinder and pushrod assembly with the slave fully compressed. The symptoms read like your pushrod isn't reaching the clutch fork and the slave is bottoming out against the retaining circlip. Could it be something as daft as the pushrod missing the fork entirely?

Gearbox is in and clutch working fine! The problem was that I had knocked the clutch pushrod to one side when installing the slave cylinder - a simple, but stupid, thing to do. This time, I took my time with the job instead of trying to rush. Previously, the slave cylinder was a little askew on the plate that holds the damper and was making it hard to install the slave cylinder. So I fixed that up and the install was a breeze. Took a little patience to bleed (using the one man method with the hose/non return valve). But I have good pedal now. So all good. Have put a new seal on the transfer case input shaft (see picture in previous post). Will put the transfer case on in the morning - it's around 40 degrees here and insulin dependent diabetes and heat don't mix that well.

So, might have a cold cider or two after that drama!

    Cheers,
    Tom.

Well it goes!!! But I am nearly sure it is cursed - came out to finish it off this morning and there is now a huge crack 2/3 the way across the windscreen! Fortunately, I ticked that option when re-inuring, so it's booked in for a new windscreen with no excess.

I just need to adjust the shift a little as it will not go into low, but that is a relatively simple adjustment, refit the console and adjust the handbrake and all should be good.

The motor sounds good now that the clutch with shot springs is gone!

Gear shift linkages adjusted, console on, handbrake adjusted!. Just need to bleed the cooling system a little and top the engine oil up a touch and clean a little oil off of the motor (old leaks)! Seems to be going and sounding good!

Down to Bathurst on Wednesday for rego and new windscreen and all should be well!

Hi Mario, for the last two weeks I have been on a low FODMAP diet (Low FODMAP Diet | IBS Research at Monash University

    - Monash Fodmap
), the first stage of which is to eliminate foods that cause tummy problems. Another 3-4 weeks and I'll be at the starting point to slowly re-introduce foods to see if they are triggering problems. So the diet is very restrictive and unfortunately rules out cider .

But you'll be glad to know that the car is registered and going well, other than, I think, a small oil leak from the side of the motor (oil return pipe from the turbo I think). Hopefully, it just needs tightening. Didn't get the windscreen fitted today as the truck carrying the new windscreen broke down, but that's another story.
