Gday All,
Looking at a possible project and just wondering what if any running gear would be interchangeable between the 2.. ie , diffs, transfer case, gearbox etc etc.
Are the brakes the same ? Master cylinder , discs etc etc.
Not sure if I really need a project but just checking - Thanks in advance.

IIRC the input shaft is different TDi to V8. Not saying you cannot swap internals just not plug and play.

Crossmember under the transfer case is very different, but rear section of exhaust should be the same. Auto gearbox probably has different valving, not sure about fitting the V8 front end bits. Brakes are exactly the same. Base model V8's had solid discs too, not vented. D1 update V8 and 300TDi have exactly the same vehicle wiring, the engine and trans unit loom uses the exact same plugs under the dash.
