    200tdi alternator replacement

    Hi all,
My alternator has met its end and now I am seeking a replacement, possibly something that can also handle my 12v winch.
What have others sourced, and where locally?
    Thanks

They are a pretty standard alternator. You will get one anywhere.

The more amps it puts out, the more it will cost.

Get the biggest one you can if your going to be winching and dont rely on your battery for winching

Winch will be fine using std 65amp ??? job. 80 amp is probably the limit of the std v belt drive.

You would be hard pressed to get a 12 alternator big enough in there to drive a winch without some battery drain (200+amp)

Is the standard a Marelli or some name like that I'm trying to remember from a long time back?

Yes, Magnetti Marelli. The one on my V8 is 100 amps, and I have a spare which I was told came off a 300Tdi, which is also 100 amps.

Bareco tractor parts do one for a Massey tractor?? That fits, or it does on my 3.5 D1 anyway, they appear to be the same as the 200tdi

You will find that alternators are a pretty standard mount across a large number of engines.

Engine makers will tend to built around standard components

At the end of the day, and alternator is an alternator. It wont matter, as long as it will bolt up...and amps is ALWAYS better
