Of all the RAVE files I've found on the various sources online, and having purchased the CD from Dave, I've yet to see a proper full electrical diagram for the D1.
D2 no problems .. love the electrical circuits they cover, and used it many times to trace stuff and check stuff.
ATM, I'm reliant on the Haynes manual for any electrical work I ever need to do on my D1.
My D1 has central locking, but no remote system(no alarm, etc) and a while back I had an aftermarket kit to add a remote system with complete with new actuators and all wiring and stuff.
But I had all the wiring, all I needed was to add the remote box and connect the wiring.
Should have been easy, but not so.
I found the required wiring(basically one pink/orange wire and a pink grey wire .. or something to that effect).
No problemo, feed into the already in place wiring to save me a lot of install time.
Doing that tho added about a week of install time, as I could only get it to either lock, or unlock .. but not both! It was one but not the other.
Couldn't find any info on why both those main central locking wires had power to them at the same time.
In my mind, they appeared to be like a positive/negative pairing, like in all the kits have the wiring setup.
But both the main wires had power at the same time.
Nowhere did it describe how the central locking system worked.
I tried about 20 different combos of relays, relay types and wiring setups, and got close to the point of installing the entire kit I got, and bypassing the LR system.
But!
I eventually 'guessed' that if I remove the central locking fuse, it may help .. and bingo!
About 3 days of messing about trying to work out how to get it working, and all I needed was to remove a simple solitary fuse .. all because very little to zero info can be had on D1 electrical operation/circuits.
Solid, reliable and zero error operation remote central locking in a D1
.. other than the totally hopeless plastic bodied remote fobs that comes in those tacky kits.
Don't get me wrong tho .. totally appreciate that some info on the D1 wiring is available in the RAVE CD that Dave has(that section is titled etlj970x.pdf for anyone having trouble finding the D1 electrics) .. it's just not the same as having a full wiring diagram like the D2 electrical section has, or the Haynes manual gives you.
Arthur.
All these discos are giving me a heart attack!
