    D1 300 TDi Earth cables

    Maybe this question has been asked before, In my 1998 D1 update i have found the Battery to Chassis and Chassis to engine cables
    BUT can someone tell me where the Chassis to Body earth is please.
    my alternator is doing weird thing and now making a wiring noise so going to replace it and while i have the battery off
    i would like to clean some of the earth cables

    There isnt a direct chassis to body earth connection (though plenty get added after market)

    there are lots of harness to body earth connections
    from memory..

    theres one in the front right near the battery and primary fuse box.
    theres 2 under the dash one each side of the vehicle
    theres one in the back left behind the trim in the lights
    theres one under the center console
    theres one near the wiper motor


    body earth points are usually about an M4 to M6 stud that has a 4 to 6 way multi plug connected to it along with the occasional ring terminal.

    I am a strong advocate of a secondary earth cable to the engine.

    When I reset landy lectrics I run a smallish (about 8 gauge) cable from the battery to the alternator mouting bolt or a housing bolt, I clean up and fit a bridge cable or braid to the startermotor side and go from a block mount bolt to the underside of the engine mount.

    Main body earth on the drivers side gets touched up and covered in battery terminal protectant when its finished.

    If I'm doing a DBS that doesnt paralllel up for winching I run the passangers side earth to the alternator.

    Down the back end I use the earth point in the tail light and run it down to the chassis bolt that holds on the tiedown point.

    Internal rear electrics now run to the body earth point and a cut down front fuse panel pulls duty for power distribution in the rear and fits in nicely in the rear light cover.
