    300TDI is not starting

    Hey folks,

My 300TDI is running on veg blended with about 30% diesel in this cold weather. Went for a 300k drive yesterday and all was running well. In the afternoon I took the car out engine was still warmish and it ran a bit rough, but got better as the engine warmed up to full temp. This morning it cranks but will not fire.
    My thoughts are to diagnose.

    • Fuel solenoid getting power
    • Replace fuel filter and clean sedimentor (this was done about 5,000 k ago)
    • Check for air leaks
    • Replace lift pump (got a Facet there ready to go in)

Sound like a reasonable approach, missing anything?

    Cheers
    Bruce

Make sure the plug on the fuel solenoid is a snug fit. They get loose and get intermittent.

The very first place is be looking at is ensuring fuel hasn't solidified, or at very least not become too heavy to be compressed in the pump. In these cold climates you really do need to have a fuel heater for any veg oil instal. Dave ,

The Isuzu 110. Solid and as dependable as a rock, coming soon with auto box😊
The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈

Not too worried about that, I've used this blend in much lower temps. I've got a heating circuit for when the engine is up to temp. Eventually will be twin tanked. I have to be careful around Dave, I think he wants to steal my oil supplies

Been working silly hours so didn't get a chance to do much till today.
I replaced the lift pump with a Facet posiflow electric pump and that did the trick. Also replaced the fuel filter and cleaned the sedimentor while I was at it.
