3.9 V8 LPG works fine, petrol misfire when warm
Hey everyone,
I have this 1997 Discovery 1 with v8i 3.9 engine, LPG system is IMPCO 225.
The car runs with LPG. It can start on Petrol, and when cold, it seems idle fine and can drive for 1km or so. Once it gets warm or after driving a bit on petrol, it starts misfiring bad, losing power and will not hold idling.
I drained some fuel using the fuel pump by disconnecting the fuel filter. The pump is strong for the first second or so and slow down, but it will keep pumping no problem. Not sure if this is normal.
The fuel has a bit of dirt, so I changed the fuel filter, but nothing changed.
The car seem to go to limp mode and will idle at 1500RPM after misfiring in petrol. Or, it could be the car goes into limp mode and then cause the petrol to misfire? I would disconnect the battery, and the car would idle and drive normally on LPG. But sometime it randomly goes back to 1500RPM the next day (without driving in petrol), and I'll just disconnect the battery and it works again.
The LPG consumption was around 40L/100km, after a gas service it's around 33L/100km. Now, I know how to get out of the 1500RPM, the consumption may be lower.
Any idea on the petrol not running properly?
