Thread: Window lift channel replacement

Has anyone tackled replacing the window lift channel? Any tips to share?

Do I have to remove the top frame and glass, or can I do it inside the door? Old one was found rusted in two in the bottom of the door!

Probably easier to remove top frame and take whole window out ( frame is easy to remove).
Haven't replaced one ( but I should do), but have had to refit channel go window when it has come out, a few times.
Pay attention to the positioning of the glass in the channel, glass can tilt and jam if channel it too far forward or back. Should be a whiteness mark on window if it hasn't been cleaned.

Thanks for the reply, as it happens I was out working on it as you were typing!

Its actually quite straight forward when the old channel is completely rusted out. I might take some photos over the weekend (have to tackle the passenger side now! No need to remove the top frame.

Only real trick is to open up the new channel a bit - impossible to push on otherwise.
