Isn’t the problem just dry solder joints that need to resoldered? Or am I thinking of another problem?

That link is for a LHD car with the glove box on the right hand side. My 1997 RHD car had it behind the passenger side glovebox, which still needed to be removed.
Yes, as posted, the fault is dry solder joints.
yeah thats probably the issue but i had a go at getting the ecu card out and the lower clip was being stubborn, there is so little slack in the wires i dont even know if the bottom one will pull out... so the bypass looked like a welcome alternative
til it went twilight zone on me
thanks i have found the ecu no worries
looking for someone who has done the bypass wire
in the event one doesnt show up- what did you do to get the smaller connector out, just yanking on it like the guy in the vid doesnt do jack and f'd if i know how that clip is meant to work i have shoved various sized prods in there, it doesnt seem to move in or out to release the plug
Doing the bypass wire isn't difficult if you can solder. The trick is to know where to put it. The PCB traces can fail in different places. If the traces look ok then just rework all the bigger solder joints, as it's likely they will all have dried to some degree and you will be pulling it out again if you don't. I have had some success with computer boards by putting them in the oven, but once again care is needed.
The plugs have been in there a while and can be stiff. Some careful use of a hot air gun ( set on LOW, hair dryer might be better ) can help. Some Inox or WD can also help, if you don't get it on the bit you're trying to pull on. They will come. Don't pull on the wires![]()

haha yeah pulling on wires goes against my grain i was surprised that guy got it out without pulling wires out of the connector
with respect to where to tap the lower bypass wire- do you know where it is?
i have resigned myself to working on that blasted lower plug with the peanut of a clip- having no idea how the clip actually secures the plug i think i will get my ozito corded engraver in there and just cut the clip off and then start yanking on it after some inox
thanks for reply mate
the clip is seriously cryptic
got the card out
it looks perfect lmao
