S1 - where is your UHF mounted?

I originally had the CB mounted in the middle behind the power window/mirror controls.

I dont have an armrest box so this seemed like a good option.

However I now want to install an AM CB to compliment the UHF CB. There is not room for 2 radios there cleanly.

Ive noticed above the rearview mirror - it looks like a document holder pouch (too skinny for a map book!) hidden above the sunvisors.

It looks like mounting holes are present, like as if they designed it for your radios.

But then the sunvisors would conflict!!!

Is this the purpose of the document holder up there or what other options might I have for mounting 2 radios cleanly?

Mine is up in the Map holder on the drivers side.

It's a little GME UHF and the mic lead fits neatly in next to it when not in use.

Check out this link as it has mine in it as well as a few others.

The photos posted below show my installation. I went with installing it where the sunroof switch would be. I don't have a sunroof so, didn't matter. Tapped into the light power, so UHF can remain on with the key out.

Oops, how do you attach photos???? Asked for a URL???

That's where I've got mine too. It's handy there and out of the way. Also prying eyes don't tend to look up there when looking for stuff to nick.

on my D1 I put the UHF up where the sunroof switches would be, ran off interior light wiring with the aerial cable running up the left hand windscreen pillar, have done the same to my D2, makes a nice clean looking unit and the plastic panels are cheap enough to replace 2nd hand later if selling the car,

The reason I put mine up there was so (even though you need to manuver to see it) you can see what channel your on as if you put it where the sunroof switch goes you have to turn it toward the driver to see the display as on the GME you cant read the display from the side.

It also gets the mic cable out of the way when not in use.

I ran a direct line from the fuse box, I found a fuse holder that was not in use and hooked it up to battery power from the AUX bat and ran 3mm 2 core up the right hand A pillar with the arial cable.

Im planning on putting an external speaker where the sunroof switch goes.
