Yep, one of the best vehicles on the second hand market, just driving a Rover is so much nicer

True, kid over the road had one, destroyed it in a gully, total write off, motor was still good. He killed a few Commondore engines, but not that one

You'll find a good looking D1 here: My 1998 diesel manual has now a great motor fully reconditioned by Murray Kingman and is for sale.

I hear what you guy's are saying..... I'm no mechanic, I repeat I sh----t with tools(I am the tool when it comes to fixing things)
It seems like the 98-99 model would do the number, but very important to get a service record or I'll pay later on.
Trying to find a diesel cruiser for a resonable price is like trying to find a good looking girl at a bar at 4am!!!!!
Plenty of petrol/gas options which might do too...

If you decide to go disco, check the Alpine windows for rust. The earlier discos were known for this (fixed for the Disco 2 upgrade)
Mine had it, was out of warranty but LR paid for half the cost cos I was the 2nd owner & had full dealer history, so thankful to them
Aliminium body (so no rust) but steel roof, so take a close look around the window seals.

    Dave.
Also the floor. It is steel as well and it rusts particularly the front from the inside out.

Find a petrol one on dual fuel (Petrol/LPG) and you will be okay.

Thanks for everyones advice. I also enjoyed reading other post regarding similar questions as me. The underliying theme is get one with a good service record. I have found a few under 200km's, which I think is a good thing. is there much that needs replacing once i get over 200km's? is the next few services going to cost an arm and a leg. Should I start heading to the blood bank to donate and collect some extra $$$?
I'm starting to think the service cost's are going to be high no matter what?
