    Big bore exhaust

    Got the exhaust done today.
Where the twin pipes from the manifolds meet, I had 2" pipes fitted. They run into a 2-1/2" system, large flow through muffler and had to have a resinator at the back, to stop it "Barking".

End result is a much bigger free flow system that had a deep V8 rumble It sound fantastic. You can hear a fair bit of noise from the rear, so I may have to put sound insulation on the back floor. $500 all up from Performance Exhausts, Brendale QLD.

Next job is LPG injection and long range fuel tanks, the a "Crow Cam" to pull the torque down to 1500 - 2000 rpm (For towing).

    Cheers

    Thanks Guys,

I must admit, it is the first time since I owned a 302 windsor Fairlane back in the 70's, that I have enjoyed that... er ... noise

Only difference is this one is better.

The young guys who did it had a grin from ear to ear, wanted to know what type of V8 it had that would make such a cool note.

I left the original manifolds in, as , like a Jaguar, some thought has gone into their construction and they look like they would do the job.

    Cheers,

    Mate,

Given their cost, it would want to be a huge difference
That money buys a lot of fuel.

Hi Ron, I am about to embark on a freshening of my 3.9 LSE, and have been researching cams of late. I came across the cam that Vitesse Developments selected, and after having fitted a few to their engines, I was very happy. I have decided on a stage 1 Heatseeker cam, 1400 to 3300 rpm range. As my auto spends most of it's time around 1800 to 2200 on the highway, and 1000 to 1700 around traffic it seemed like a good thing. I'll report on the whole rebuild when it starts. The part number Vitesse used was a HS20, and I will confirm that this is the same as the stage 1 Heatseeker they list shortly.(No part numbers on their website!)
I'm also going for 9.35:1 pistons, a full port match(Inlket and exhaust) and as my 93 model has a bigger bore factory system already, I'll leave that alone.
Maybe a little more noise would be nice though...
I could just up and buy a Hi comp 4l short, for about $2900 but where is the fun in that???
I agree with your comment about the manifolds, they flow well, don't leak like extractors, and makes removing the starter etc a LOT easier!!

Enjoy the note, no need for a wireless now!!

The Isuzu 110. Solid and as dependable as a rock, coming soon with auto box😊
The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈

    Thanks JC,

I'd be very interested in how the cam works out
I find, that when towing the van, the engine torque is in the wrong spot. If you pull it at 120kph it fine

    However I'd prefer 90-95, it's safer

    Cheers,
