    D1 seat collapsed

Hi Guys , Noticed today that the drivers seat in the disco had really dropped in the middle . Had a look underneath and the seat and the stretchy fabric had torn down the centre . Am I able to fix this myself ( have no idea about seats ) or who do i take it to ? Thanks

    It's a common problem, unfortunately.

You can get a replacement seat cushion from LR. I got a replacement a couple of years ago for $99. You just take off the cover and swap it over.

    The part number is: MXC7870
    97 D1 V8 SE manual - loud & locked - RPI Optimax & some toys
    09 D3 HSE
    Sold and missed: 03 D2a V8 auto

Regrettably, it's not the cushion, it's the diaphragm that tears. I replaced it in my daughter's Disco. I've seen a number that are like this.

MXC7870 is the foam cushion that sits above the diaphragm..

The diaphragm varies depending on model year as far as I can see. It might be MTC9931 Diaphragm, Cushion. It used to be about $40

Unfortunately, my parts catalogue is deficient in this area.

    What is your D1 VIN?

Late edit: That might be the wrong part no. It's also used on the RR classic and the pic there is much better. It doesn't look like our D1

    Mrs and a sewing machine

Same here. I stripped the seat and removed the diaphragm. My Mrs sewed a strip of carpet binding over each of the tears and it's as good as new (well...maybe not quite so good but good enough). The foam was also pretty compressed so I got some from an old seat back cushion and cut it to bring the profile back to where it should be. The seat feels fine and I can now see over the steering wheel hub to read the instruments (what there are of them ).

Well i fixed the seat . I bought a seat off V8Landy out of a wreck and used the mesh from that seat and put it into mine ... was a lot cheaper buying a second hand seat .

I would like to replace both front seats in mine D1 - 1992. Do you mind if I ask which wrecker you got the seat from.

    Best

So does anyone know specifically where to get this diaphragm from ? Rovacraft in Perth used to have them but they've been out of stock for about 18 months, apparently they also fit the older models
