Hi Jimbo hope you enjoy your disco i don't know what to look for as far as the diesel go's except service it every 5,000kms that means filters aswell others will chip in hear and give you plenty of advise.Look for rust around the alpine windows.Check your wheel bearings and see if it is leaking around the steering ball it probably will be.They have their own fill point so keep it topped up.Check all oil levels as you would with any brand.Hope thats a start point for you.Cheers Brett

how hard is the timming belt to I have done heaps of other one on diesel's but never a landy how many km's should they be changed

Not all that hard to do the timing belt if you have done that sort of stuff before.
It needs to be done evry 80,000 but I have a weird feeling some vehicles were every 60,000 but someone can elaborate on that.

I suggest you buy a rave CD off this website. Go into the markets section. They are excellent and don't cost much and it will give you a fantastic manual to help you work on the vehicle.

I just bought a tdi disco. It's awesome so I hope you enjoy yours.

Good luck with the Disco I recently picked up a 96 tdi myself. Quite impressed so far. Watch out with some rubber it may show up your 105.

lol its got a long way to go before it can do that, need a lot of work just to get it road worthy its got oils leaks galore from the motor and box exhust leak from the manifold the auto is playing up when its cold valve 's are noisy roof is faded drivers door need adjusting beast thing about it is the good tread on the tyre's but its my new project and I will reserect it in 6 months time it will be a diferent truck

one Q about the gear box will a auto box out of a v8 same year fit can the bell housing be changed to suit?

The v8 box won't be very good behind a diesel the gear ratio's are different.Cheers Brett
