Hi guys , the left hand front door on my disco is a little hard to open . I'm guessing it's in need of adjustment of some sort . how do I do this before the missus breaks the handle off.

is it doing it from both handles? (if its only one then you have a linkage problem and need to pull the door apart to sort that out)
if it is its either the alingment of the striker, mechanism or the door itself.
if the door is still closing and sealing (as far as a landrover door can seal) well then that lends itself to being the striker or mechanism
if its the striker it should just be a couple of largish screws that hold it into the pillar experiment with moving it a mill or 2 at a time and see which way makes it better, when you have it just nice pull the screws out one at a time loctite them and put them back in.
I cant remember the mech adjustments from the top of my head.

its not the mechanism or the striker if the outside latch is the only one doing it.
odds are the little plasticky clippy thing that locates the linkage rod in the door handle (or like it was with mine) or to the locking mechanism has come apart and theres too much play in the rod.

Morning WL,
I'm glad that was taken in the good humour it was intended...
I read pages and pages of that other thing and at quarter past beer last night it seemed the only appropriate response.
You've actually reminded me to do mine and maybe on Sunday I will, I've done the adjustment to the link some time ago but it needs doing again.
From memory .....
once you get to the inside of the door (remove speaker, door grab handle, latch handle surround, door trim, plastic membrane)
Now you can see the rod running from the back of the outside latch handle.
You need to release the clip at one end (it clips onto the rod) and then pull the bent section out of the lever, twist the rod and the slack will be taken up by the threaded section at the other end. reassemble.
test the operation .... and the central locking before reassembling the door interior.
Don't know if any of that makes sense, I'll edit on Sunday if my memory is patchy.
for you

been meaning to do mine for ages might get around to it soon
ar, i didn't really read all the stuff following the initial post,
but if it hasn't been said before,
lubricate it.
give it a good spray of wd or any thing similar and go from there.
if that doesn't ease the problem then go with destruction of the door to find a problem, but most issues are lubedube related, my disco drivers door is doing it at the moment, has been for a week or so,
you pull on the handle and the door doesn't open,
crack the sads and pull again a bit harder and it opens, it just needs a spray of slippery and away we go, just ain't got the can in the hand when i need it and forget before i next try it, - having posted this, might just remember to do it in the morning when i get to work.
