Right, see if I can get it:

CDL - Without CDL engaged, all 4 wheels spin, but as soon as 1 wheel is off the ground (no traction), then the 3 remaining wheels wont move. With CDL engaged, the front and rear diffs are independent so to speak. If say the front wheel is off the ground (no traction), the other front wheel wont spin, BUT the 2 rear wheels will continue to drive forward. WHere this fails is when you become cross-axled, 1 front wheel loosing traction, 1 rear opposing wheel losing traction. This is where you need aftermarket Diff Locks

For your original question, my Rangie will be getting a 2" body lift and a 3" suspension lift. Even at 3" theres a lot of mods to do, mainly with drive line vibrations (slotting the swivels I will get done).

    Hope this helps

Hey steve, have a look on the "show us your disco" thread and you will see some good disco's with plenty of work done to them.

The specs for my modified Disco 1 are on my website if you want a look.

    5" Lift Kits from RoverTym

Thanks guys I will check out those web pages. Have looked at the RoverTym site. Their slver disco looks pretty alright. 5" kits are roughly $2650ish not sure about the freight. It says that the driveshafts not included. So I guess has anyone had some experience with this. How much are the tailshafts or driveshafts because obviously after fitment of this kit there will be vibration.

BlackrangeOffRoad. Nice red truck. Yes Thats the lift I would like to achieve

Cooter... Nice looking truck too. Same colour as mine> Mines a bit faded on top though so I need to get some paint and learn how to paint Aluminium. I think I know that track you were on. I think I have been on it somewhere out there near Pelaw Main and there is a long track that leads out to a paddock and a water crossing and then some sand. Bit worried about going across that though with no snorkel but yeah thats the sort of look I want to achieve with the disco I have. Beautiful Flex in those pictures too
