Anybody?
Just wondering if you can change the Diff centers from a 10 spline Diff to 24 spline in a 91 Disco?
If so how hard is it and roughly what is involved?
Anybody?
Are you replacing with stock 24 spline?
Pete
I just converted my 92 disco to 24 spline with a detroit and rovertrack hd axles. I had to change the hubs and stub axles, which I acquired second hand from a 24 spline disco. It is advisable to use HD axles with a locker. Also it would pay to replace wheel bearings and seals, and diff carrier bearings. You will need a dial indicator to set-up diff and at least a haynes manual. Not hard to do as long as you follow the correct procedure.

Thanks for that discopete. Thought it would be something like that, just wanted to make sure they fit in the standard diff housing.
Hey Siska theres a second hand detroit locker and a tru trac for sale on LROCWA forum both $500 each with 700km on them wont last long both for 24 spline disco diffs
Cheers Matt
Not hard Siska the detriot will replace your hemisphere(90% sure)then you just need to replace axles ect.Crown wheel and pinion will remain.Hope this helps
yes you can, ashcroft offer a 24 spline shafts that fit a disco 1 you will require a new center , ither a stock or a arb , then there new axles slide in, you will also require a new hub , or you can swap from a 10 to a 24 spline you have to change the running gear, diff and half shafts and hubs, there is not much benifiet if you look on ashcrofts test rig the 10 and 24 spline brake at the same point any how, but there hd shaft kit is only offerd in a 24 spline, and btw, if you spend 4 grand on the full kit, what is the cost of a 24 spline any way ?
