    V8 Towing Temps?

What is the normal temp when towing? My 1993 Disco tends to sit around 3/4 on the guage when towing. Does not get into red, does not get any higher. It does drop down when cruising on the flat or going down hills.

I tow a car and car trailer behind it. We towed all the way to Sydney and back like this. Car did not seem to have any problems.

The temp is normally around 1/2 or less with normal driving?

I have done coolant flush and new water pump on it. The coolant system was all bled as per normal when this was done.

    Thanks for the feedback.

Flushing doesn't do much, remove the rad and get it rodded out.
Working hard, it could be as much as 20% blocked to cause a rise in temp like that. The giveaway is that it cools down when under no or less load.

I've towed a loaded car trailer many places and the temp gauge NEVER moved.

    as JC said--
if it moves,, you have a problem,,,

Ok. I will get the rad out and send it to a radiator shop for cleaning? Hope that solves the problem!

Make sure it goes to a reputable radiator repairer, it needs to be rodded out. This means remove the tanks and physically rod the core tubes out. Check out Dullbirds comments about their experience with 'flushed' radiators. They had a shop do theirs, only to find out several years and lots more $$ later that it hadn't been rodded out at all, just cleaned and painted
