    Hi
Had a look at the car.
It is in very good condition has all the goodies, Bull bar, snorkel, new Cooper st's, LR mats etc. But the full service history typicaly turned out to be up to 75,000 and then no records. I may be able to speak to the previose owner regarding serice history, but must assume it is due a cam belt. Any idea what sort of cost I am facing to get it done?
I am slightly concerned about the car now. It is up for $10900.

I have also looked at another same age 200,00k's, no bull bar not as good condition, similar history, $1400 less and would be sold with 3 months warranty!

I feel the higher k's one is the better buy but really not sure about them both.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
    Phil

    advise

    Yeah
Wait till you find the right one, the one you feel comfortable with.

Or offer money so that it leaves you with cash to fix a potential problem.

There will always be more where they come from.

Our 94 Tdi was $7000 at an Adelaide caryard in May this year, 278000km. It was tidy but had bald tyres and was due for the timing belt. We spent about $1000 on tyres and the timing belt/cooling system work in my earlier post was around $960 or so at Lynda's Landrovers.

I read in the forum somewhere that the 97 is the pick of D1s, maybe they are worth paying a small premium?

We shopped around for a long time, looking at anything from $5000 to $12000 and there wasn't always a direct relationship between price and quality. Ours was one of the tidier ones we saw. More $ got something younger but not necessarily better kept.

    Good luck with your search.

    Cheers
    Paul.

Got my 1996 d1 a few months ago with 260K on it. No rust, excellent condition. No options other than towbar and cargo barrier. Paid $7000. Have since put 20000 kms on it. Great drive. Extremely comfortable.
