    Long Range tank for my Disco

    Whats best, where from and how much. Thinking that would be a nice chrissie present for me and/or the disco
    Series 1 by the way

    The 125litre tanks are pretty exxy, and only extend the range by 30 odd litres. (2 jerry cans are cheaper and more fuel)

    The bigger 134litre ones require the removal of the rear sway bar on some models, or an additional side tank on the rh side, costing another $500 or so

    What sort of range do you want? 2 jerry cans and a main tank will easily see 1000km in a Tdi, and will only cost about $50.00

    I have a pair of sill tanks if you want them,(1 stainless water tank, 1 steel fuel tank) BUT, they aren't on my vehicle because they hang down below the sills a fair bit

    FWIW, Longranger tanks are very well made, I have a 136litre one in my RR, and it has supported the weight of the vehicle on a few occasions and no leaks..

    Trouble with jerry cans is either they go on a roof rack or take up precious space in the disco, which I may add is fairly limited. My thoughts were along the lines of the 135l. Not real keen on sill tanks for the very reason you have made mention of

    I've been thinking about doing something along these lines in my Disco. I have a 2 door, on gas with the scuba tanks. As it's only normally the wife and I or the dog and I, I'm planning on removing the rear seats, having a tank made up that will fit in the foot well/area in the back and then move the scuba tanks forward to sit on top of that. Then remove the rear petrol tank and fit gas tanks.

    Has anyone done anything like this? Or can anyone think of problems that might be encountered doing something like this?

    I have the Long Ranger 120 litre replacement tank (TR47) and the 32 litre auxilary tank (TA47). The TA47 fits out of the way, behind the rh rear wheel. They both fill from the standard filler and the outlet from the TA47 connects to the TA47 so no worrying about fuel transfer. The guard for the transfer hose is bolted to the sway bar mount.

    half way through fitting one.

    Has anyone ever fitted a TR47 themselves? I'm a bit confussed with the vent hosing and the instructions are not so clear. Main issue is with the 8mm hard nylon tube with the 'thingy' about 400mm from the fill point. Not sure how to disconnect it and not sure where it goes.

    Anyone shed some light?

    What brand are they, I would like a pair, but not ones that go below the chassis.
    no money to buy yours, but would like to know brands to keep away from.

    I have a 135lt Brown Davis Main Tank, type with wings?
    good for touring,
    but
    no-good for hard off road.
    Mine now about 125lt, just lots of dings.

    I fitted both the replacement and auxiliary tanks to my disco. But a few years ago now so my memory may let me down.

    I expect there would be differences in venting a tank for petrol compared to diesel (mine is diesel).

    Don't recall being confused by instructions.

    I recall most connections were as per the stock tank, except filler hose (but maybe that was to do with fitting the auxiliary tank which tees into the filler).

    Mine has a stock breather that is pushed up in the right rear quarter panel. This may be the fast-fill vent. I think I had to tee into the hose when fitting the auxiliary tank. This is what I think you might be referring to. It is hard for me to check this now the auxiliary tank is bolted up.

    You would have to go into more detail to jog my memory.
