Thread: D1 interior roof lining

How bad would the inner shell look if you just painted it?

Mine is just starting to sag now but it has been discoloured by the dust and dirt for many years and a nice gloss enamel paint or 2 pack would be much easier to clean.

Those of you who have had the shell out, how hard would that sort of thing to do and do you think it would look totally crap?

i think it would look shocking why dont you guys try to chase up one of the woven type linings that dont sag, i just got one from sprover that i need to pick up but its perfect and a decent price

Ahh yes the old school Disco headlinings, good stuff and easy to clean. I should have swapped it from my old Disco to the new before I sold it.

Waste 5 hours of my time and still muck around with ripping off old lining and gluing new lining plus still spending $.......................NO

Perhaps spend 200 - 300 - 400 + getting it done professionally (well at least paying professional fees).........................................NO

OK being the master of budget quick and bodgie fixes

For years when I have been faced with the prospect of having to repair a sagging headliner (O for the days of real headliners with bows )

Out with a hypo syringe, suck up some glue, stick needle through headlining, squeeze in appropriate qty of glue, massage evenly with fingers/roller.
Always worked for me, just be careful of type of glue used (test on some similar material first) Don't use heavy duty bonding type cements they will cause fabric to go hard and discolour.

Couple of small pin *****s in headlining when brushed over will never be noticed. Some glues may cause a wrinkle or two but still better than sagging headlining.

Sweet, I'll buy the kit and the beers, you come around and fit it for me and I'll take the photos

Oh, and I also had a quote for this from a well respected local Castle Hill (NSW) trimmer. He wanted about $500 drive in drive out and $300 if I just bought in the lining

I dont care what you think it would look like, I asked for people who knew what one lookied like stripped not just for an opinion.

Thanks for the suggestion on the older type lining, I will chase one up.
