    Had my chip done

Took my car to said Landrover workshop (not sure about mentioning places now) in Sydney and had the chip done today. Instantly the car feels much better and after this weekend I'll do a consumption comparo versus the last long drive I did.

One thing I was very happy with was that it wasn't just a drive in drive out chip install, the car was checked over properly, all sensors tested, mixtures checked before and after, timing advanced a little and both the rotor button and vacuum advance can were replaced as they were faulty.

Obviously the higher kv due to the new rotor button will help performance, but I'm more interested on seeing what it does for the consumption.

Not stirring here, but if a mod reads this, can I mention the workshop?

Also, no LPG on mine, not really sure if chip would be doable for dual fuel on a D1 as they're still mechanical advance, but I didn't ask, so i could be wrong.

    Let me guess ... JC

I think it was just a case of "full moon" effecting that day

I would imagine a huge improvement ... As the Vacuum advance was replaced

Good to hear that it's made a difference but having everything else checked & parts replaced might have made a major effect anyway.

IMHO, if you paid full retail for the service, who cares - if you didn't and it was a "work related" cheapie/freebie then no you should not as it is not possible to be unbiased.

But then again, my opinion counts for not much - ask a mod when in doubt.

Definitely see where you're coming from there and to put your mind at ease it was a normal retail job. I got pm'd before and told it was ok to mention the tuner, so for those keen to find out, it was Bruce Davis.

    Cheers

If they didn't change anything with the distributor etc then I am guessing it is the remapped fuel chip in the original ECU. This is what I have (probably bypassed now as running on US tune with oxy sensors). Mine was done by John Davis before I bought it.
This won't give you dual maps with LPG etc for the guy that asked.

If you got a tune including a new vacuum advance then your economy will improve greatly regardless of the chip.

Have fun with it and remember, with great power comes great responsibilty

Tell me about it. Hopefully in a few months time I'll have my Falcon ute going, here's what it looks like as of yesterday

ps: all the alloy fab work was done by a local mate in Castle Hill NSW, if you need any fab stuff done PM me and I'll give you his details. He's very reasonably priced and loves the work.
