    broken ummmm piece?

    hello guys

    while changing the timing belt in my 1994 300TDi i broke a piece and i am trying to find out what it does, the piece is a plastic bit that has 3 hoses connected to it one comes from the header tank, one from the thermostat housing and the other from the radiator.

    my question is is this just a connector or is it a valve and what is its function i need to get it fixed asap preferably tonight

    and does anyone know the approximate replacement cost for this either genuine or second hand.

    a pic of where it was mounted would help. but from the description you can replace it with a y or t piece.

    hmmm i dont have a camera but it is mountede just below the AC compressor beside the header tank

    It's just a connector for the bleeds and is open, there is no one-way valve (NRV) function to it.

    It disperses air bubbles in the coolant to the expansion tank.

    Put a new one in. The old ones are prone to catastrophic failure. Sometimes they failed during the warranty period, cooking the engine.

    so a mates suggestion of replacing with a y connector from bunnings is a bad idea?
